Harry Gunsallus is a financial and information technology innovation leader with over 30 years’ experience in banking, credit unions, and fintech partnerships. He has won many awards for innovation and creativity, including industry trade recognition as a CEO of the year as well as Chief Information Officer of the year. Harry is a thought leader in the digital banking space and an expert in the deployment of lending / process automation, both at the banking level as well as within operational and mortgage areas.
Harry previously served as the Chief Innovation Officer at Banksouth, a community bank in central Georgia, where his innovation projects ranged from implementation of conversational Artificial intelligence (AI) to cannabis banking, lending workflow automation and even cryptocurrency.
In addition to his tenure at Banksouth, Harry served as the Chief Operating Officer of and helped create a fully digital bank brand called “Owners Bank.” Within a year, the team launched a brand new digital bank brand with best-in-breed products and services, all provided 100% digitally to the small and mid-sized business segments. During this time, he was responsible for identifying, implementing and overseeing the lending products and operation. He was a “closer” in this workflow and managed directly all those folks that worked in the lending area. Additionally, he was responsible for building and managing the strategic and operational budgets and five year plan.
Prior to this, Harry was the President and CEO for a large credit union based on North Augusta Sc. In four years he took this credit union from poorly performing to high performing. The CU doubled in size in four years and their ROA went from .70 to 2.0 and all other financial measures improved and the organization grew in every measure. During his time, he created commercial lending as well as many other niche lending products and took the LTA from 60% to over 85%.
Harry is a community advocate; he is very involved in Chamber of Commerce, and various other community events and believes that if you are going to be of the community, you need to be in the community.
