Marisol Rosales

Former, Superintendent at NYC Department of Education

Marisol C. Rosales is a transformative education leader whose three-decade career has reshaped New York City public schools through visionary leadership and systemic reform. As the first Latina Senior Deputy Chancellor of the NYC Department of Education, she guided the reopening of schools after the COVID-19 pandemic, launched the Summer Rising program, and realigned academic priorities to strengthen instruction, wellness, and community engagement.

Rosales advanced through roles as teacher, principal, and superintendent before becoming Executive Superintendent for Manhattan, overseeing 273 schools and seven superintendents. She also secured $70 million in Magnet Schools Assistance Program grants, expanding access to innovative programs across the city. Known for her steady leadership in times of crisis, she led recovery efforts after Hurricane Sandy and supported Puerto Rico’s educational system following Hurricane Maria.

Today, Rosales consults for the Leadership Academy, For A Bright Future Foundation, Black Dragon Capital, and the U.S. Department of Education, focusing on leadership development and building systems that foster rigorous, equitable, and affirming schools nationwide.
